【原在个人wiki,Net.Weblog.20051221。

2005-12-21

China revised her 2004 GDP from 18,431 billion$ to 19,800 billion$

According to my forecasting with a GDP linear growth model:
* 2005: China (7%) beats France (3%) 【
* 2007: China (7%) beats UK(3%) 【
* 2013: China (7%) beats German(3%) 【
* 2022: China (7%) beats Japan(2%) 【

If we use PPP (which is a more realistic measurement for comparable products and services), China will be the top-one in 20 years 【太保守了,大概2015-2017年吧】. It will be the first time in 200 years that a non-western country to be the first.

No matter how many problems the country has, it IS developing. US had similiar problems (e.g., pollution, corruption, poverty, monopolization, over-exploitation) during 1870s-1900s, too. They not unsolvable.

However, what on CNN’s headline for China? Let’s see the article titles about China from the CNN website in the past two weeks (unfiltered complete list)

* Dec 16: China dam bid to halt poison river 【污染】
* Dec 16: China recover 39 bodies from mine 【
* Dec 15: Dozens dead in China hospital fire 【
* Dec 14: Amnesty fears for Chinese lawyer 【人权】
* Dec 13: Chinese activists call for inquiry 【人权】
* Dec 12: Chinese village mourns dead 【灾难】
* Dec 11: China shooting: Commander detained 【冲突】
* Dec 10: Report: China extends detention 【人权】
* Dec 10: China defends firing on villagers 【冲突】
* Dec 9 : Witnesses: Chinese village sealed 【冲突】
* Dec 8 : U.S. to China: Become more active 【国际事务】
* Dec 8 : Dozens dead in China mine blast 【灾难】
* Dec 7 : Dozens dead in China mine blast 【灾难】
* Dec 7 : China mulls dam for toxic spill 【污染】
* Dec 6 : China vows to punish spill cover-up 【污染】
* Dec 7 : Chinese city rushes in water plant 【污染】

You can only see disaster, social disturbance and dictatorship. Can you learn social improvement of China, for example, more college graduates this year, from CNN,? No. Can you learn political improvement de facto of China, for example, more diversity and openness of news reports or local elections, from CNN? No. Can you learn the feeling of common Chinese citizens (not so-called activists or “human-right” fighters), for example, their attitude to the national leader or their life compared to that of 10 years ago, from CNN?

What you hear from CNN about China is carefully selected, professionally distorted, consistently biased. It magnifies a tiny part of Chinese society with problems and LABELs everything in this part with communism, but deliberately overlooks the main body, or the more vigorous and progrssive part of the society.

This is one of the biggest hoax or cover-up ever existed in this world. CNN and other media misled the US people for such a long time. The price for such a misleading will be enormously high.

But some people just don’t get it. They are too happy to see what fits their “image”. They are happy to “see” that some other parts of the world are inferior to the American society.

What an emperor’s new clothes.
